Nikon’s Capture NX2 offers revolutionary image editing tools wrapped up in a full-featured editing environment, with a built in browser. Real World Capture NX 2 will walk you through every function of the program, while teaching you good post-production workflow, and image editing tips. Aimed at the novice and experienced user, the book is ideal for anyone who wants to use the program. |
And, don’t think that NX is not for you just because you don’t shoot with a Nikon camera. While it’s an excellent raw converter for Nikon shooters, it can also read and write TIFF and JPEG files, meaning you can also incorporate it into a non-Nikon workflow.
The new version offers improvements to Capture NX 1′s revolutionary U-Point editing tools, a dramatically improved interface, and much much more. It’s a must-have for current users, and a great option for anyone looking into expanding their digital editing toolbox.

Is there a way in CaptureNX 2 to incorporate a slightly darkened edge around a picture?
I’ve enjoyed both your books on the Nikon software.
IN YOUR BOOK CONCERNING PRINTING COPYRIGHT PRINTING (PAGE 34) DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS — USING ALT-0169. I HAVE CALLED N IKON AND THEY AGREE IT DOES NOT WORK. —–HOW DO I PRINT THE COPYRIGHT SYMBOL–EITHER SHORT TERM OR LONG TERM (LOWERCASE OR UPPER CASE)(
The book gives virtually no attention to the Lasso tool. You simply commented that you don’t often use it. However, I bought the book to learn about the program since it has no instrustions with it. Now I still don’t know how to use the Lasso tool. Trial and error has not lead me to understand how it works or what it is good for. Nikon no doubt had a reason for including it in the program. I would still like to know how to use it.
Great Books, you have the knack of explaining. I am beginning to love NX2. I am though perplexed about how some of the sub commands as ‘Luminance and Chromaminance’ will affect a picture in some of the adustment choices. They seem to be offered in many and their effect after trying random positions eludes me.I understand that they effect light/color changes. Is there a site that explains their actions and proper uses for particular situations?
A photo manipulated with many of these sub commands used would be useful. Do you have a book suggestion that goes into these topics?
Steve and Would I like like to go to Italy with you!
Got the Capture NX2 book and have learnt a lot from it and will most likely keep learning from it for some time…Great Work!!. However, I don’t seem to be able to locate the part in the book where it tells us how to download the images for practicing all of the techniques. Maybe there are no images available but it would be great if you could make these available for us so we can download them to practice the techniques you teach in your great book. Most such books either provide a CD or provide a URL from which the practice images can be downloaded. Forgive me if they are in fact available somewhere and it is clearly detailed in the book, but I could honestly not find it. Thanks & Best Regards.
I read your book on the online Safari bookshelf and I really learned a lot from your explanations. I feel I can use the program much better than through experimentation/trail and error.
BTW, ALT- 0169 does work on WInXP ->>> © (but you have to use the numeric keypad not the top row.)
Mind commenting on why some of the features in NX 2 were broken by Snow Leopard on Mac OSX and when Nikon is going to update the app?
I think we’ll be seeing an update to NX very soon, which will address Snow Leopard problems. Stay tuned.
Tell me what you're thinking...
