Epson P7000

One of the great advantages of shooting digital is that you can shoot tremendous volume without having to spring for expensive film and processing costs. While this freedom allows you to experiment and learn much faster than you could with film, it also means that you need to have a lot of storage at the ready when you’re shooting in the field. Flash memory cards are cheaper than ever, but it’s still hard to beat the price-per-megabyte of hard drive storage. If you’ve been looking for a portable, hard drive-based tool for offloading images in the field, then you’ll want to take a look at the P-7000 Multimedia Viewer.

The latest in Epson’s long-running series of viewers, the P-7000 provides faster transfer than its predecessors, increased storage, and an improved interface. Like all of the P series of viewers, the P-7000 provides an exceptional LCD screen, massive storage, and the ability to preview raw files, play videos, and serve as an MP3 player. And, like its predecessors, the P-7000 is quite pricey. If you’re wondering if it’s right for you, read the full review.

  4. I have an older P-2000. Handy, small, and meeting the needs for a few days worth of shooting. Was looking for something with greater capacity, but was turned off by the expense of the P-7000. So I opted for an HP netbook. While a little bigger than an Epson, it provides me with a laptop about half the size of a regular laptop. And with USB ports, I can attach existing USB hard drives (320gb for example), giving me unlimited storage. And I now have a computer when traveling, again with something half the size. Nikon VewNX allows RAW image viewing. I can wait to get home to do the editing on a Mac, as one would do with an Epson.

My 2 cents. Hope this helps.
