Fix for Photoshop Action Pack Installation

May 30, 2007 by Ben Long

If you’ve been having trouble getting the Photoshop Action Pack to install, it’s possible that your copy of Photoshop is not properly registered with the OS routines that help Automator find the actions that are associated with each application. This simple script will force Photoshop to re-register itself with the appropriate OS routines. If you’re having trouble getting the Photoshop Action Pack to appear in Automator, quit Automator, then drag your copy of Photoshop onto the Application Updater script. When it’s done processing, re-launch Automator and you should see the Action Pack actions.

  2. Still no luck with seeing the new action pack on my old G4. I have run the install, deleted files, and run the fix script. Can’t get it to see the pack. Any other ideas? I love your actions and need to have them on this box. Help.

  4. I have tried downloading the brilliant Photoshop Action Pack for Automator but it only installs two actions: NTSC Colors and Trim. I have deleted all occurrences of the previous version and run the script to empty the cache as suggested, I have also used the Application Updater on Photoshop but no joy, I can’t see more that these two actions. I am using an Intel mac running 10.4.10 and am using Creative Suite 3. Is it possible that the Intel bit is causing the problems? Can anyone help?

    Thanks
    Helen

  6. I get all the actions installed but I have no Application folder in the Automator library…just a list of Apple applications. The actions show version 3.5.1 (that I installed but did not use) when I click on them but I deleted them before installing the new actions 3.7.

  8. Hi,

I’ve been back and forth with this for ages now, I can see the application in the library, and all the actions. However, when I run them, the workflow says it’s been completed but nothing is changed on the file. Even a simple open, invert, or run action seems to go OK, but doesn’t do anything.

Tried holding the Option key, and the Application updater script, but go nowhere. I did notice that the Application Updater script said something about no such file … Is that correct?

    Kev.

  10. Hey Kevin,

Are you using Open and Render properly? This is the biggest mistake that people make. If you don’t have Open and Render properly positioned in your workflow, then nothing will happen. See the first few pages of the user manual for details.
