  4. ‘Micro’ Four-Thirds ?
I have a few Olympus Cameras and the lens to go with and have produced thousands of pictures with it.
I really have to wonder about the marketing logic Olympus has with the word ‘Micro’ .
Micro discounts the size of the sensor I see no advantage of using the word Micro in the advertising, people want something for their money and are comparing the sizes on line you can find compairisons anywhere, why discount your product right off the bat with the word Micro?
I for one don’t want a micro sensor I want a sensor that compares to APS-c or larger and if your putting more pixels on a 4/3s sensor or it has less noise, advertise that, in stead of saying its a ‘Micro’ 4/3s sensor.

  6. The name “micro four thirds” is to differentiate from the “four thirds” standard which micro four thirds is a subset of. Micro doesn’t refer to sensor size, but to the smaller lens mount, which allows the lens to be closer to the sensor.
