  4. In the introduction to Complete Digital Photography (5th Edition) you mention a chapter on the CD-ROM titled “Choosing a Digital Camera”. I can’t find it there. I only see tutorials for Chapters 9, and 13 – 22.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Cliff

  6. I use Ben Long’s book and Lynda.com when I teach Digital Photo I at the community college level. I cover chapters 1-6 in the text. I wonder what Lynda videos Ben thinks are especially good as companions to Chap 1-6 of his book. I’m still on the 6th edition…

  8. Great book, and site. Looking forward to Lesrning s lot.

I was browsing the companion files for the cdp7 book and noticed that the files from chapters 20-23 are missing. Getting an error 404 thought you’d like to know.

Otherwise, I consider your book to Boone of the most comprehensive and informative ooo son digital photography.

    Thanks,
    Ivan

  12. I found your Foundation of Photography courses on Lynda.com. I am impressed by how accessible you make the subject of photography. I am a beginner, and at times I get frustrated at how much I don’t know yet. But after watching your videos on Exposure and Composition, I became inspired to take more photos with the new knowledge I gained. The quality of my photos is improving, and everyday I watch a little more from your courses. I apply what I’ve learned when I go out and shoot. Now, I am learning about lenses from your Lenses video. I’m trying to find a good walk-around lens, and I’m becoming better informed of what to seek out for my photography needs. Thank you for putting together your Foundations of Photography courses. I’m grateful to be learning from your work!

  14. Ok I purchased your “The D90 Companion” In one of the chapters you asked why someone would need this book. By the way I purchased the full version. Ok I will tell you why someone would need this book. And why I am writing to you. So I am a newbie. And by that I mean I have had cameras forever (I am 51) and have had nice ones, push here stupid ones, film, nice digital ones. I decided, cause I am a techo geek and like stuff, that I wanted to learn how to take great or rather really nice or good pics. My brother gave me the money to buy a nice camera. On the advice of my friend I ended up with the Nikon D90. Well I have been reading books, watching you tube (which as been unbelievably helpful). Now here is where you and your book comes in. A lot of the information I have looked at I get about four words into their explanation and my eyes glaze over and I hear blah blah blah blah blah. They are condescending and know it alls. The ones I do understand and have enjoyed I have noticed that people will post ugly things like, you are a geek and ugly etc. But I have learned the most from them. Those and the ones that spoke “English” when explaining things. That is what I am saying you do in this book that I downloaded. You explain things in a manner that makes sense to me. Maybe it coincides with all the other information I have absorbed or something, but what you are saying is making a lot of sense. I have not heard one Blah yet. Thank you for this amazing instruction book. I am unsure where you are located but I plan on taking some classes in the future. I love art of all sorts. I also need to learn to weld as I got a nice welder for my christmas present this year. But for now I am working on my photography. I have no illusions I will be a great artist. But I dont have any aspirations in that directions. I just want to be good enough that I like to look at my pictures. Thank you so very much for your wonderful book. Candy
